Hello friends

If you’re ever feeling down about the state of things, know that the world is filled with happy stories, and that in your part, if you’re reading this, you’re playing your part in making them.

Each and every day this year, hundreds of poverty stricken children have walked their way out of the slums of Kibera, oversized second hand rucksacks hanging from their shoulders, filled with the pride of parents and the dreams of their sherpas, to attend Little Lions School.

Here, daily, they’ve been greeted with hugs from a staff of 24 loving adults, fed warm and filling meals, been reminded of their unique being, and encouraged to learn, laugh, sing, dance, story tell, make art, be brave, be kind and to play.

It’s remarkable really. Thousands of lives, from our children and their families, our teachers and staff, the farmers and suppliers, our donors from across the world, an unlikely grouping of people, fate intertwined, all participants in the creation of happy, a revolution against cynicism and defeat.

We marvel that a friend building the future of blockchain, driven to work in his driverless car whilst he talks to his AI assistant, is connected to little Kenyan children dreaming of being pilots and nurses; that a formidable female entrepreneur, who we didn’t know only 18 months ago, has the heart to donate tens of thousands of dollars each year, send boxes of books and keep a community of thousands connected to our story; that two pensioners give $100 a month of a $1200 a month pension, or that a 12 year old boy in Lisbon sells and barters to collect donations for the children in Kibera.

If you’re reading this, you’ve played your part, and we thank you.

2026 will be our greatest year yet; we’ll raise more money than ever, make a record number of meals, welcome our biggest classes of new students, educate more children, expand more minds, start building our first dedicated school and continue to inspire hope across our community. We look forward to doing this with you.

With love

Imagine Kenya’s first female President - a precocious talent born and raised in Kibera slum. Imagine her understanding of what Kenya needs to thrive, shaped by her lived experience of both hardship and hope. We believe that such a grand vision sets us up to succeed in developing our Little Lions into humans of outstanding character: resilient, wise, humble, driven and acutely conscious of either their responsibility as children who will emerge from poverty to become the first generation of middle-class adults in their families. This vision anchors all of our thinking as we equip our Little Lions with real-world skills and global perspectives that translate more effectively than traditional approaches enable. This is our vision and our mission”
