Leah is in grade 1 and lives in Soweto village. Leah’s father is a casual labourer with no stable income while the mother is a house wife. Leah’s younger brother who is 1 year and 3 months old has been having recurring chest problems due to their poor housing conditions and as a result the family has been spending most of their income in medical bills. Leah was amongst the malnourished children, according to the Penda Health camp held at the school during the term. She was put on a special diet. Leah lost her father recently in July 2024.
